Recognize this situation?
The off-the-shelf ERP or CRM covers part of the operation, and the rest lives in spreadsheets and manual rework.
Every system holds a different version of the customer, the inventory and the order, and nobody trusts the reports.
The previous vendor delivered a system with no tests and no documentation, and every change breaks something else.
The per-user SaaS fee grows with the company, but the features you need never arrive.

What we deliver
Business systems: ERP, CRM and POS
Business systems: ERP, CRM and POS
Finance, orders, inventory, sales and support modules modeled on your process, with role-based permissions and an audit trail.
Web platforms and portals
Web platforms and portals
Portals for customers, partners or internal teams, with self-service signup, role-based permissions, real-time dashboards and each company's data kept apart (multi-tenant).
APIs and integrations
APIs and integrations
REST APIs documented in OpenAPI and integrations with ERPs, payment providers, Brazilian e-invoicing (NF-e) and legacy systems, with queues and reprocessing so a failure does not become a lost order.
Documented specs and architecture
Documented specs and architecture
Specs, architecture decision records (ADRs) and acceptance criteria written before the code, so the system does not depend on the memory of one person.
Automated tests and CI/CD
Automated tests and CI/CD
Unit, integration and end-to-end (E2E) tests run on every change and block whatever breaks what already works; automated deployment and reproducible Docker environments.
Data migration and go-live
Data migration and go-live
A migration plan with data validation, a planned cutover to the new version and support through the first weeks of operation.
Event-driven architectureEach domain sits isolated behind an API with contracts. Services publish events to a bus with queues and retries, and workers handle integrations and per-tenant data, without coupling one domain to another.

Who it is for and who it is not
Custom software development is building business systems, such as an ERP (company management), a CRM (customers and sales), a POS (checkout) and web portals, around how the company works instead of bending the process to a packaged product. Hire it when subscription software does not cover the operation or the system is part of your edge.
A good fit for
Companies whose process does not fit the off-the-shelf ERP or CRM and that make up for it with spreadsheets.
Directors and IT teams that must integrate systems that do not talk to each other: tax, finance, sales and logistics.
Software companies and B2B startups that need senior engineering to build the product or get it unstuck.
US companies looking for nearshore development in an overlapping time zone, working in English.
Not a fit for
Standard processes that off-the-shelf SaaS handles well: in that case, the SaaS costs less.
Programs that need a large team staffed from day one: we deliver senior engineering on a defined scope, not staff augmentation.
Projects with no owner on the client side to set priorities and validate deliveries.
Corporate websites, online stores and landing pages: those services have their own pages and scopes.

Discovery
Discovery
We map processes, current systems, integrations and risks with the people who run the business. You receive an assessment with the prioritized scope, the target architecture, the plan and the estimate.

Business rules, specs, ADRs and acceptance criteria written before the code. You approve what will be built, in which order and how each delivery will be validated.
03
MVP
MVP
The most important flow working end to end, on real data and with tests. You receive an environment to use and decide based on running software, not on slides.
04
Production
Production
Short iterations with frequent releases: modules, integrations, data migration and training. You receive the system in production, with a deployment pipeline and trained users. Broad systems are split into phases.

Technical details
How we use AI with governance, the decision comparison and the stack
AI with governance
We use AI coding agents to speed up the build, never to skip steps: specs come before code, tests block regressions and every decision gets senior human review.
Where AI comes inAI coding agents (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Copilot, OpenCode) implement modules and tests from approved specs, following Spec-Driven Development.
What humans reviewBusiness rules, architecture, ADRs and every merge go through senior human review.
Quality gatesAutomated tests, coverage targets and CodeQL static analysis block the merge when they fail.
Inherited codeAI helps read and document undocumented systems before any change is made.
AI inside the systemWhen the case calls for an assistant or an LLM automation, it ships with guardrails and automated evaluation.
Your dataNothing your company shares is used to train models, and the work is covered by an NDA.

Custom software, off-the-shelf SaaS or low-code: when to use each
Criterion
Custom software
Off-the-shelf SaaS
Low-code
When it makes sense
A process of your own, critical integrations or a system that sets the company apart
A standard market process the product already covers
Simple internal workflows and prototypes, with few users
Fit to the process
The system follows the process of the company
The company adapts its process to the product
Good within the platform components; limited outside them
Integrations
Any system with an API, a file or an accessible database
Those the vendor offers, plus the public API
Prebuilt connectors; cases outside the catalog need code
Cost over time
Higher upfront investment; then hosting and maintenance, with no per-user license
Low entry cost; a subscription that grows with users and modules
Low entry cost; a license per user or per application
Dependency
Code and data stay with the company, under the contract terms
Roadmap, pricing and data follow the vendor
The application is tied to the platform; moving usually means a rewrite

Frequently asked questions about Custom Software
How much does custom software development cost with a nearshore team?
The cost depends on four factors: the number of modules and screens, the integrations with other systems, data migration, and the tax and security requirements. For that reason we publish no price list. A 1–2 week discovery defines the scope and the estimate, and the proposal can be fixed scope or time & materials with a cap, in USD or BRL.
How long does it take to build custom software?
Typical timelines are: discovery in 1–2 weeks, an MVP in 2–4 weeks and a first version in production in 6–12 weeks. Broad systems, such as a full ERP, are delivered in phases, each with its own scope and estimate. The biggest factors are the integrations, data migration and the availability of the people who validate deliveries.
Should we build custom software or buy off-the-shelf?
Buy off-the-shelf when the process is a market standard; build custom when the process is your edge, integrations are critical or the per-user fee has become a burden. A common middle ground is to keep the SaaS for what is standard and build only what sets the company apart, integrated through APIs. Discovery compares the paths with the numbers of your case.
Who owns the code when we outsource software development to Brazil?
Ownership of the code is set in the contract before work starts, together with scope and confidentiality. At handover you receive the source code, the tests, the infrastructure scripts and the documentation (specs and ADRs), so your team or another vendor can run and evolve the system without depending on us.
Who maintains the software after launch?
You choose between two paths: a monthly retainer with us, for fixes, evolution and monitoring, or a handover to your team, with documentation and mentoring. Either way the system ships with automated tests and CI/CD, which lowers the risk of every change. Support terms are set in the contract.
Can you take over a half-built or inherited codebase?
Yes. We start with a 1–2 week discovery that reads the code, runs what exists and separates what can be kept from what must be rebuilt. Before changing anything, we write tests that pin down the current behavior. At Regal Rexnord, we used Claude Code to reverse-engineer undocumented legacy code.
Will we work with a senior developer, or will work be passed off to juniors?
Senior engineering from start to finish: whoever designs the architecture also writes and reviews the code, with 20+ years of accumulated software engineering experience. No work is passed on to a junior team. AI coding agents under human review extend delivery capacity: at The Hackett Group, this model delivered about 50 tasks per week.
Which custom software development companies in Brazil work with US companies?
Master Timm builds custom software from São Paulo, Brazil, for companies in the United States and Brazil, fully remote. We built Mahout ERP Cloud, an ERP SaaS with about 417K lines of code, and have served US enterprise clients since 2022. For US companies, São Paulo is 1–2 hours ahead of US Eastern Time, and communication is in English.
POS, hardware and offline operation on Windows, macOS and Linux.
